Re: Using Lionel Legacy at the World's Greatest Hobby on Tour Show
The Club TMCC Command Base is on the middle shelf of a steel (but, ungrounded) cart in close quarters with all of the other Club command control and power electronics. By the way this cart is a really great improvement!!. It looks great!!.
My TMCC Command Base sits on top of the cart on a wooden board in close quarters only with the Legacy Base and Expansion Base in all but line-of-sight of the CAB-1 Controllers we were using. Certainly Lionel did testing with Legacy and TMCC Bases in close quarters but maybe not with all the other electronics so close. Who knows.
My first order approximation at wild speculation tells me that it is reasonable to assume that the signal from the CAB-1's is successfully reaching my TMCC Command Base and is somehow being attenuated before it reaches the Club Command Base.
BUT, what we did not do --because it was late in the day and we'd already been burning our brain cells for 4 to 5 hours when we came across this situation -- is simply swap places with my TMCC Command Base and the Club's and determine the outcome.
That's the next logical step. Maybe we can do this on Friday evening or Saturday morning at the show. Ten minutes at the most.
Or just leave well enough alone until later. Go with what works.
And Steve, I think it's good idea for you to bring both your Legacy and TMCC Bases. Spares are good.
Like they said in Apollo 13 "Failure is not an Option."

Actually, the TPC 3000 ( power masters) do not get signals from the hand
helds but get them via the wire to the base unit . The Lionel ones we
used to use listened for the handhelds but not the TPC 3000. therefore
to get these to work I would assume the base unit we are using will need
to be connected to the TPC signal line to get to all of them. Now I see
your point. The track 5 is a Lionel powermaster so unless Cab 2s know
how to talk to it , it may not get signals. It still might pick up
things from there base until though since that will be wired into the
Legacy.
The wonders of new electronics. I bet it all works.
