The Club committed to this show and it needs to follow thru and live up to
its commitment. Canceling is NOT an option. We have to make this work. Not
only would they be pissed but we would look very bad and probably not be invited
back. We would be burning a bridge simply because we seem to be in a slump and
people are upset for whatever reason and are being pessimistic about the future
of the club.
Things come and go in cycles and we have been in this slump before. This
could be the event that reinvigorates the club and gets people back into the
groove of running trains, seeing good friends, having fun. Now is the time
that all the new members we've gotten recently show us they are committed to
this group and come out and help and have fun. Older members should look at the
example set forth by Ron. He's not attending the show but has been our contact
person and has offered to help with setup. Help is what we need, not bad
attitudes. Those can serve to bring down the club and the morale of its
members.
Whether we go to a show or stay at the Railyard there are pros and cons.
They are both good recruitment tools as they put us out there. And any money
coming into the coffers is a good because it helps with expenses
and getting a new trailer. We do need to explore more options to raise
money but until that happens I don't see how we can afford to stop going to
shows. Granted we can't take our biggest layout but people understand our
predicament and glad we setup what we can. Something is better than nothing
no? The idea of leasing a trailer from Scott is appealing but we need to
make sure that neither the club or Scott get screwed over. We don't want to
alienate or offend anyone.
