Show wrap up
Set up: Things went rather slow since we did not have a lot of people
available. I think they spent 4 to 5 hours working on things. They,
Jim, Ira, Bob, and Randall, set up a great layout, 6 by 4 modules in a L
shape. This is a minimal staff and we need to have more people committed
in the future so the work is shared.
Raffle: I left the layout at home Sat. by accident. The tickets were
left in the trailer. The people stayed home because of the rain. So we
did not hold a raffle. We all felt that we would have lost money on it.
A few more people came by Sun. but not like last year.
Layout: Ira had TMCC command connected to track 2 as well as the DCS. I
am not sure if we ever tried that feature but it worked on the test. We
still had a slow corner, starting with the corner near the sidings, going
through my modules and the next two ABCD. I have taken one of them home
to work on. the others need someone to look them over next time they are
out of the trailer. Everything else seemed to work fine.
Trains: I seemed to have reached the limit of how long a train can be
and still go around the curves. I had 72 box cars on for awhile. After
several derailments I cut back to 50 or so. Maybe heavier box cars would
stay on better. Most were 9200 and 9400 or Hi Cube series. At 72 and 2
engines, all but 6 modules and 2 corners were covered.
Ira and Randall were running two trains on the same track for quite a
while. This really added to the action. Bob did as well, but with
conventional engines, gave it up after a while.
Track time: Everyone there got all the track time they wanted.
Takedown: We had lots of help and had everything down in record time but
then had to wait for a position for the trailer. Took about an hour
before we were all rolling.
