As you know, layout space has always been up in the air until we arrive.  L-shapes were built after determining that they would fit.  every year has been the same way.  rumor has it that Jason will be there as well.  I personally like L-shapes but it all depends on space and manpower.  I'm sure whatever y'all set up will look good and work well.  Model Railroading is Fun!!

Ira,

All I know is -- we did L shaped layouts in 2010 and 2011 at Garden Ridge and everybody seemed to enjoy them and they fit the space.  If we're getting less space and only a 6 X 2 with 90 degree corners will fit then so be it.  Just trying to help.

As for your  statement, "you apparently don't understand the geometry of layouts."  I admit to being part of the "great unwashed."   After all, all I have is bachelors and masters degrees in engineering.  So, a topic as complex as layout geometry is probably beyond my abilities.  Thankfully, we have you to carry this heavy burden.  And thanks for the lesson.

See ya' at setup
Bill
