Kewl. I remember the first orders of NYMTA/Connecticut Department of Transportation m.u. cars, although I didn't ride them very much (I was a student in Providence, RI, which was still in the NE Corridor's non-electrified zone). The first order supplanted some very battered former New Haven m.u. cars (Some looked a bit like the American Flyer cars, others were nicknamed 'Washboards.').
