Re: Problem With New Power Monitor

Hi Scott,

The problem with your suggestion is that the ammeter must be
in the path it is measuring. In order to use a rotary switch to
select which line to measure, we would need a switch
which would keep three circuits closed (i.e. the for the three
tracks which are not being measured) and the fourth circuit
open and switched to the meter. The switch would also
have to be capable of handling 15 amps per circuit. It would
also have to be able to perform its operation without
interrupting the current flow, otherwise power would be
interrupted, possibly to all four tracks, every time someone
rotated the switch.

It might be possible to find a double pole double throw 15 amp
push button switch to activate the ammeter only when pressed.
However, if someone pressed two buttons simultaneously,
the system would self-destruct. I don't want to have to replace
wiring and/or meters just because someone experimented
with the unit.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will think about them.
