Subject: lionel part numbers

Hey tinplaters, Is there anywhere that I can find which part numbers apply to a given Lionel engine? I've pulled all their supplement PDFs from their web site and don't see anything on my specific engine other than a wiring diagram. I also pulled down their price list and they have umpteen smoke units ranging from $10 to over $30. Its not clear which one applies to my engine. I called one authorized service place in dallas and really couldn't help me (they just said send it in and we'll fix it). What I'm trying to do is get an estimate for replacing a fan-driven smoke unit in a 2-8-8-4 engine (6-28051). It appears to be not blowing smoke. Anyway I just need an estimate for buying a new smoke unit and installing it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve. ------ TTAT members reflector.
