I don¢t think that will ever happen. It¢s a good idea, but it will be a long time (if ever) before there are enough passengers to support that. Even Amtrak only runs one train per day in each direction. More likely is that CoA will add commuter trains to the schedule.

The idea behind building
condos there is that the City of Austin
wants to convert that line to passenger rail only.

The train wreck made the Channel 24 evening news. Turns out one of the cars, looks like the gondola, hit one of the balconys on the Condo complex to the north. Man, that's train watching. Not sure I'd be interested in living there. Next time it might be something toxic or flammable. Wonder who's bright idea it was to put a condo complex that close to the right of way and at the end or beginning of a sharp curve!! Hmmmmm. Bill

I have a nice view of the UP line as it goes over the
Colorado . I noticed
this morning that an empty freight was going a little faster than usual up
the grade and around the curve. Then just as the loco's past the Amtrak
station, the 1st two cars (a hopper and a gondola) derailed. I watched it
happen.
