Or you could probably save space by replacing the two switches on 2 and 3
with O72 Y switches...

Here is another idea for allowing switching between the 4 main lines. 
With this type of module, and cooperation between the 4 operators, an 
engineer could pull their engine out from the roundhouse or transfer 
table and bring it onto whatever main line they are using.

More fodder for thought...
