Fwd: Latest Word, Railfair 2006
Hi All,
Here is a message about The Railfair and some final reminders.
We will set up from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday.
They are providing (2) 6-foot tables for us. They will go inside the layout for us to stage
our trains. We need a smaller table (like a card table) for the raffle. If you have a small
table, please bring it. (Scott - maybe you can borrow the card table that is sitting in
our former space at The Railyard when you pick up the trailer.) It sounds like we could
also use a couple of chairs.
The A/C may or may not be adequate. If you have a floor standing fan,
please bring it in case we need it. Also, bring water - you don't want to dehydrate in this weather.
Above all, bring trains to run and be prepared to have fun!
See you in Burnet.

Hi Everybody,
I'm heading up to Burnet tomorrow morning (Thursday)
to move train eqpt and collect tables for Friday. I
think that we have enough tables to get two 6-footers
for each of the 3 clubs setting up. If you can pack
in an extra card table or something, it might fill in
in case there may be a shortage somewhere.
I have permission to borrow chairs from the Civic
Center as well. If you can put some chairs in on your
way up it may compensate in case we do not quite have
enough or they are not as comfortable as you would
wish.
I will be distributing name tags for the RR clubs. I
will write the person's name on the tags as they are
given out. The name tags will entitle exhibitors
entrance into the vendor table area in the Civic
Center. You will get a number on entry (so that we
can keep track of how many people visit the vendor
area); however, your number will not be eligible for
the door prize raffle.
I will be in Burnet by 11:30 Am on Friday. I will be
either at the Hardware Store or the Dr's Office until
3 PM that day. I have to go and check in then but
will come back later. You can set your stuff up until
something like 8 PM, or an hour that we negotiate at
the time. I am not too interested in staying in
downtown Burnet until very late that day. I will open
up the venues at 8 AM on Saturday.
AustNtrak in Dr. Kingston's Family Practice Clinic:
It is on the corner of Jackson St. and Main St. in the
old Burnet Bulletin bldg. Dr. Kingston says they will
close up at about 11:30 on Friday. Any time after
12:30 or so wil be just fine. Our first order of
business will be to move the couches. Kim: I was
mistaken; the small masonite squares are in the
AustNtrak boxes. It would be great if we were sure
that they arrived in Burnet.
Those of you in the old hardware store:
It is at 104 Washington St. on the north side of the
square in downtown Burnet, two doors east of the
Herman Brown Library. I put up a 16 foot "Railfair"
banner on the store front on Sunday last. I hope that
you may be able to spot it. It is not meant to be a
secret.
Please remember to bring a cooler and water for your
club members. Bill Nash says the AC in there is not
as bad as I fear, but when we get people going in and
out it will lose some effectiveness. Someone will
have to ensure that the front door doesn't remain open
when people come in. Continuously.
I will have 4 fans of my own. We will have a stand
with 3 fans on it (sorry, they cannot be detached).
Please bring as many box fans and floor stand fans as
you can muster to help with the air flow. I will have
some torchier lights to fill in the darker areas where
the overhead lighting is not too good.
There is enough room behind the hardware store to park
all three of the club trailers. There is an alley
that has easy access off of Main St. I hope that it
is obvious once we are there. I will get Burnet folks
to unlock the gate. Once inside, your trailers will
be behind a locked gate. I think that the AustNtak
trailer is short enough to fit under the covered
awning that is back there. As I remember it, the
other two are a bit too tall to go under. There is
enough space outside of the awning, however, for all
three trailers, though.
See you all on Friday.
