The MTH DCS system was very temperamental all weekend. When we were
able to get a command engine to run it ran very slowly. They
finally got it to work with a conventional engine. On
Sunday I was able to get a command engine to work after a while. This
however didn't last long as once I had my train put together and
tried to run it was very slow and unresponsive to commands and stopped
running halfway around the layout. I then tried to run a conventional engine on
the same train instead but it would only run at top speed and when I tried to
reduce the speed the entire track shut down and I was unable to power the track
back up. I checked to see if the breakers were tripped on it and everything but
to no avail. They weren't tripped at all. I tried turning it off for about 10
minutes and trying to power it up again but still nothing. I tried again later
in the day after the plug was discovered and fixed but it still didn't
work.
To be honest I'm tired of this system. It always seems to be more trouble
than its worth despite all its "bells & whistles" which certainly
lessens the fun of running trains.
Other than that it was a fun show. There were a lot of people there at the
show and there many of vendors I had never seen before along with
some other very nice layouts.
