SAMRA report

Thanks to everyone who participated and attended, and a special thanks to those who participated in the layout teardown the week before the show.  We had steady participation for Saturday and Sunday and a good sized group for setup and teardown.

Both Setup and teardown went pretty fast since we had a basic layout without the yard.  I think it was 3x6 with two bridge modules.  Setup was just under 2 hours and teardown was under 1 hour 30 minutes.

On Friday the following people helped with setup:
Ron Baker
Ron Fieblekorn
Ricky Dolika
Rick Dolifka
John Eagle
Jim Reesman
Steve Rorer
Russell Knoblach
Ed Weltens

On Saturday the following People helped with teardown:
Rick Dolifka
Ricky Dolifka
John Eagle
Steve Rorer
Russell Knoblach
Ryan Howell
Randall Howell
Ed Weltens

If I forgot anyone I am sorry that my memory failed me.  I should have written this down.  I especially wanted to thank those who helped with setup and teardown that did not run trains.  Ron F. and Ryan and Randall fall in this category.

The DCS system seemed to have some problems at the show.  I did find a single set of jumper plugs not connected between two modules that I suspect could have been the problem, but it was mid-Sunday and I don't think anyone tried DCS after I found it.

The layout operated smoothly after cleaning many sections of track.  It seemed to have accumulated a lot of grease at the railyard.  This is not unexpected.  Just remember that when cleaning track to please use a cloth and a degreaser, please don't use an abrasive cleaner on the track.  I will probably bring some goo gone to the railyard and do a quick pass next time I run up there.

The Dolifkas brought a lot of different scenery items that really spruced up what would have been a spartan layout.  I have a few pictures from Sunday I will send to Ira to see if he can add them to the web site.

The trailer is staged at the railyard at the same spot it was previously.
