Burnet Update

Here's the latest information we have on the Burnet Railfare Show that we
will be attending next month.

The dates for the show are August 24 and 25. I believe the hours are 9am to
5pm on Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sunday. They will have a Friday set up
from early afternoon to 9pm. Badges will be given out to each member that
attends the show and the badges will get you into the Community Center at no
charge.

This year we will be in the Branded Tree building. It is located on Jackson
Street and is close to the community center. Previously this building was a
restaurant so the floor plan is broken up into several areas.

Space is at a premium again this year and there will be a total of 7 layouts
at Railfare. We will be given a 22'x29' area to work with. This area is
for everything: the layout, bollards, and 2 aisle ways. It looks like we
will be able to set up a 2x3 module layout and possibly a 2x4 layout. We
have been told that there are lots of 4'x4' tables and chairs in a storage
area in the building.

Tables may also be set up in another part of the building so visitors to the
show can come inside to eat or just to get out of the heat. It sounds like
we should have a lot of visitors to the layout so we can raffle a train set
if we want to do this. There will be areas in the building to set up a spot
for the raffle.

The Railfare group is alloting up to six complimentary tickets to each club
for the Bertram Special excursion that includes dinner and entertainment,
but there are rules that go along with it.

The train will depart Burnet at 6:00pm Saturday night. It will arrive in
Bertram at 6:45pm. Dinner and entertainment at the Iron Star Hall will
start upon arrival until 9pm. Evening photo shoot at the Betram depot for
those who are interested will be between 7:30pm and 9pm. The train will
depart Betram at 9:15 and arrive at Burnet at 10pm.

After the 6 complimentary tickets, additional tickets may be reserved in
advance at the following discounted prices: $17.00 per person for the train
ride, dinner and entertainment; $7.00 per person for the dinner and
entainment in Betram (no train ride).

To receive the complinetary tickets and/or reserve additional tickets in
advance, an RSVP must be received by the ASTA by August 3, 2002. The offer
of complimentary and discounted ticket will not be extended past that date.
A limited number of tickets will be available for purchase after August 3 on
a first come, first serve basis (including the day of the event) at the
following prices $25.00 for the train ride, dinner and entertainment; $10
per person for the dinner and entertainment in Betram.

Let me know by next Friday, August 2 if you plan on going on the Bertram
Special. Complimentary tickets will go to the first 6 members who respond
to this E-Mail. Family members and friends will need to buy a ticket if
they plan on going with you.

Also let me know which days you plan on attending the show (Friday,
Saturday, and Sunday), if you can tow the trailer, and if you can be a FAT
controller for any of the days.

Thanks--Ron
