In my opinion Lionel ddoes not make an enginewhich can run continuously.
on there
test track ffor new product, they stop and grease and oil the engines on
a fixed schedule.

in my opion, only the lgb engines can run for hours and not be serviced.
if you go to
stores with lgb' running engines, there are always engines sitting while
backup engines are pulling the load.

In west des moines,ia. there was a train store which had lionel trains
running almost constantly.
i asked the operator how he kept the engines running and he showed me the
cases of 24
replacement motors that lionel furnished, as a promotion expense..

I think that the ronald mc donald train exibet in ne dallas for years,at
christmas ttime , ran o-ga trains from 9am to 6pm
daily. someone from dallas would have to tell you what equipment they ran
and how many
repair people were required service the equipment to keep em rolling

In closing, i see the staffing needs to keep any USA trains running
full time is a real budget item

a friend of mine who is one of the top 10 LGB Garden railroad operators
in the USA , runs her
trains about 50 times a year and returns all sick engines to the lgb
service center every winter.

Another friend, who is up in years, is a master designer and master
builder of all size models
and full size train engines and rolling stock. the o gage, 2 rail,
engines and consist models
he built from scratch have a much longer running schedule than all of the
above engines descrebed.
