Re: plexiglass on the corners
I played around with the plexiglass for a while and had sort of a prototype
module set up for it. I think its still in the trailer. It has a piece of
molding on the front and the molding extends out from the front of the
module a 1/4" or less so the plexiglass can be dropped into place. The
plexiglass had a quite a bit of play in it when it was in place on the
module but since then I've found a piece of white flexible plastic ??? at
Lowe's that has a grove in it the same size as the plexiglass. This white
piece of ??? can be placed on the top of two pieces of plexiglass where the
meet, and will probably keep everything in place pretty well. The only
problem I see with the plexiglass is the cost of the plexiglass and the cost
of the velcro (if it has to be replaced). Its been a while but I think the
plexiglass cost about $24.00 for a 18" x 48" piece. I have three 6" x 48"
pieces somewhere.
I also have another idea to keep the trains from falling to the floor.
Take two dowels approximately 6" in length and attach them to each end of
the module by possibly drilling two holes into the top of the module. Then
drill 2 or 3 holes in the dowels and run a small rope or some other device
between the two dowels. The rope could be knotted on each end so it doesn't
slide through the holes in the dowels.
I haven't tried this but it seems like the cost would be cheap, the curtains
would not have to be shortened, the rope won't scratch like the plexiglass,
it probably would be easy to take up or down, and it would keep the trains
from falling to the floor.
Any comments?
