Re: Fwd: Model Train Build for Center for Child Protection

If we had a good turn out or workers at the April work day we could dedicate some time to this and finish it if needed the next day at my house.

Otherwise, I might be able to find some time for this .

Hey Trackers,

See email below.  There is a person that wants to donate his layout to the Center For Child Protection but says that it needs some electrical work for it to become operational.  Is there anyone in the club that would be willing to volunteer some time to this project?  Let me know so I can respond to Steven.

Thanks,

David

Thank for the referral. I sent pictures and an email. Assuming CCP wants it, would you have any volunteers that would figure out the wiring so it will run. I'm willing to donate the buildings, transformers, and enough engines, box cars, etc. to make kids smile.

BTW - do you have family in Houston? Steve

Don't know if you are interested, but the email below would make a possible candidate to donate your layout to.  If so, contact Jana at the Center for Child Protection email address.

Thanks,

Hello there,

We are a nonprofit that works to ease the trauma a child may experience in a difficult time in his/her life.  The Center provides services and resources for children who are suspected victims of sexual abuse, serious physical abuse, and for children who have witnessed a violent crime.  Forensic interviews, therapy, case management, medical exams, court orientation and parent coaching are all provided to protective family members at no cost to them through the generosity of our community. In 2012, the Center for Child Protection provided 10,335 services to more than 2,063 children and more than 1,344 caregivers.

One of our donors has generously donated a train for us to display in our play area for our clients and children to enjoy while they wait to be interviewed.  I am currently constructing a table to display this model train.  Once this is complete, I am uncertain as to the best way to create the environment and scene on the table for the train.  I was hoping that a group from your club or an individual would be willing to assist us by providing insight or even designing and building this scene to enhance our display.  We hope that this will be a bright light and distraction in the moments that prove traumatic for our youth.

Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.  If you are able to donate or help us out in this endeavor, please let me know as soon as possible.

Best,

Jana
