For those folks who didn't get the word but who might be interested, the Santa Fe Railway Modeler's & Historical Society is having their annual convention in Temple, Texas this very weekend. Most of the activities are being held at the Frank Mayborn Convention Center, where the Centra Mod group has their annual shows and where the Trackers occasionally set up the portable layout. Tomorrow (Saturday June 23rd) is the last full day of activities.
For those interested in learning more about the late, great Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway, this is a splendid opportunity within driving distance (I think next year's convention is in Flagstaff, AZ). You can also learn a lot about modeling Santa Fe equipment and about such structures as Santa Fe's stations. As I said earlier, Saturday is the last full day of activities. There is an early breakfast on Sunday, but that's it for this year's SFRH&MS convention. --Lee DeGolyer |
