Layout Downtown

Hello Trackers,

It has been agreat start for the club at the Downtown site.  We had a very busy day yesterday running trains as well as renting train time for the kids to run trains.  The problem we had was enough members to keep things moving smoothly.  At the beginning of the day, there were only two members present which made for a tough start.  Also, the rental train would not run and members that were there had to allow their trains that they were running be used for the rentals.  I think this problem has been resolved in that Scott left his Santa Fe train with some freight cars, Rick has left his 2-8-0 Consolidation and I left my Polar Express set for that purpose.  At the end of the day, again, there were only two members present to run trains and keep up with Raffle Tickets, Train Rentals, and keep our trains running on the layout.  We kept having visitors come in and were not able to leave until after 6:30 pm Saturday evening.  Saturday Dec 11 will have a special opening time of 10:00 am at the request of AMLI for a function that they are having.  These are the folks that are allowing us to use their building.  If you would, please sign up on the coordination document on the Web Site and put in the Notes section the times and dates that you can be there to help man the station.  You do not need to be there all day, or every Saturday, but would help tremendously if you were there to open by noon, or be there at the end of the day for the days that you are there.  Both timeframes need to be covered with at least four members.  Also, we have some flyers made up that are at the layout.  If you know of a place or two to hang one up, take the time to do so please.  I am taking one to Hobbytown south and will take one to Kings as well,  We took one to the Dell Childrens Museum across the street as well.  Any place that has a bulletin board is fair game.  The more people know about us, the more we have a chance for success.  We have already seen visitors that remember us from last year.  I had one lady tell me that she follows us on our Web Site to see where we are so she can come down.  We have another that is a Scout Leader asking to bring her Cub Scout Troop to visit the layout as a way to earn a Merit Badge.  This event has a huge potential but also takes some coordinated effort on our part to keep it operating.  Again please help out as much as you can.

Thanks,

David
