Re: AMRE show report?

Here is my impression of the show.

The show was sparsely attended. There were large empty spaces in the Civic Center
(meaning not very many vendor tables). Even though there were large empty spaces,
we had a problem setting up the layout since the area we were assigned was too
narrow for the layout I designed. (They promised us a 52' x 35' area. They actually
gave us a 52' x 25' area.) Since the whole back wall of the Civic Center was
open, we moved to a back corner and set up a large L-shaped layout instead of the layout
I originally designed (a rectangle with two long, sweeping S-curves).

There were also relatively few visitors to the show.

My impression was that there were more people selling O-gauge equipment
than usual.

We had a nice layout and a reasonable turnout of our members. We rarely had
people waiting for track time. Legacy and TMCC were working well and DCS
even worked most of the time. I had the new ABCD switch modules in the layout
and we switched trains back and forth several times. I was concerned that there
would be very little scenery on the (large) layout, but I was wrong. Adrian sent his
oil field and city scene modules, Ricky expanded his city scene to three
modules, and I had the carnival and trolleys set up. There was something for
visitors to look at all around the layout.

I am working on the pictures and videos from the show. Hopefully, I will be able
to finish them in a week or so.

Perhaps other people who attended the show can share theire impressions of the show.
