Hello Trackers! As some of you may know I was
recently laid off from my job at Whole Foods Market. Even though it was for a
while a bit depressing, I saw it as an opportunity to follow my dream and
chase a railroad job. As of October 2nd, 2010, I will be employed
by Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus as a diesel tech,
railcar maintainer, and a loader/ off loader at every destination. I will be
living on the train on the Red tour. That's the one that was most
recently in Austin. The Blue train will be here next year at approximately the
same time. It's an every other year schedule. You can look us up by
going to
http://www.ringling.com/TourSchedule.aspx and
are our location is indicated on the map by red blips. The position I
got is not the brakemen position that I was looking for but it's a
step in the direction that I'm headed and I'm more than overjoyed to accept
it. I may even wind up liking it more. There might even be a possibility
that I could eventually buy and live in a caboose being pulled by the
train. What a dream huh? It's far fetched but I'm gonna shoot for it if I wind
up liking the job and staying for an extended amount of time. I wont be
around much to participate with the club but I will be playing, living,
dreaming, and breathing trains on a daily basis. I will be getting a
laptop soon so I will be sure to send many railroad pictures back of my
adventures. I will be in a new city and state every week so I'm sure to see
some wild things along the tracks. If anyone is ever in another part of the
country and wants to see the circus, call me and I will see if I can get you
tickets. I haven't started yet and I don't know quite how it works so no
promises at this point. My number is on the web site and if it isn't,
my dad's is. My niece gets first dibs on the shows around central
Texas but if she's not interested, I'll shoot out an e-mail.
