I bet it has something to do with all the work being done up near McNeil. They are extending the interchange siding at McNeil further south to just shy of the crossing at Duval. The new very long siding is being done in order to better facilitate interchange of rock trains coming out of Burnet. They also replaced the #7 switches at both ends of the existing ends of the siding with #15 switches. I heard that the new switches have needed some fine-tuning. They have been working on getting the new signals up as well lately. They put in a new intermediary signal between Round Rock and McNeil underneath the MoPac / 45 tollroad. The old was was about 50 yards south of the highway. Oddest thing is though is that on the south end near Duval they have also put in what seems like an engine storage spur off the siding. All this rain I'm sure has messed with the CTC and makes moving trains harder as well.

A northbound container train has been sitting on the track over the river for over 2 hours. I wonder why….
