Re: Legacd V1.3 Preliminary Testing

Hi Steve,

You're welcome to load v1.3 using these modules if you wish.  I was under the impression that you're not using Legacy?

As for being registered.  When I received my Legacy with the Big Boy as a package deal there was a note in the box to be sure and register to receive the modules.  So, I did and I received a set.  I wouldn't count of them putting you on the list because of a repair.  I'd call them.

BTW am working on double tracking the front corner by the entry door.  This will give me two independent loops -- the upper one with sidings and the inner loop that goes down through the valley and then back along side the upper one with two crossovers on the engine terminal side.  Big job as is.  The total double tracking was just not practical.

See ya'

Thanks for the update Bill!

Can't wait to get my upgrade!

Q: I sent my unit in for the 1.2 upgrade way back when.  Do you think that means I'm registered and will automagically receive the 1.3 upgrade?

Scott loaned me a set of the Legacy v1.3 upgrade modules he brough back from York and I installed them in my Legacy system and two CAB-2 remotes yesterday.  Thanks, Scott!
The instructions were clear and straightforward.  The installation was simple and successful.  Took about 5 minutes.
All of the engines previously loaded were still there and as programmed.
I did a quick and dirty range test leaving my Hawking high gain antenna installed as my Legacy Base is now kinda hidden away with the other electronics since I no longer use the Base Cradle Charger.  (I'm sold on the new Energizer Ultimate Lithium non-rechargeable batteries.  They last a loooooooong time in the CAB-2's)
With the old Legacy version I was getting Radio Link Warning Lights and wireless signal dropouts in several places inside my trainroom and pretty much died when outside the room.
As advertised, v1.3 has greatly improved the range.  On my my layout anyway.  No RLW Lights or dropouts anywhere in the trainroom!  And now the CAB-2 works in the adjacent garage and in most places out in the yard in front of the trainroom!   When I go out of range and lose the wireless link the RLW Light comes on -- which is how it is intended to work.
Will be interesting to see the results on our layout at a show after the Board decides to upgrade the club Legacy system.  This is still a pre-production version but has had extensive Beta testing with real live users and is now getting thorough shake rattle and roll testing from the much larger group who were given the upgrade at York.
There are a ton of new features in v1.3 some of which I'll be trying in the coming weeks.  For any of you interested, the OGR Forum has a topic under the TMCC and Legacy category where folks are posting their results.
