York TCA show run down
It was quite an exciting event for me. A day at Starsburg and a day and
half at the Show and also Gettysburg. Sorry you guys missed it.
Although, here are some of the things that I picked up.
I have the current catalogs from most of the manufacturers so if there is
one you would like to see, let me know and I can bring it to our TCA show
in May.
Ross is making O gauge tinplate track switches now. first ones - 072 and
#4 I think. More to come. This track is exactly compatible with Lionel
track.
I picked up almost completed upgrades for Legacy 1.3. Better than Beta
but not quite distribution version. I can upgrade base and handhelds to
this new software but they do not want public questions being asked about
it until fully released. It is supposed to fix the range problem.
After asking several Lionel people and missing the guy that was supposed
to answer my question several times, I did get his email to ask about the
limit of 4 TPCs on the Legacy base.
I found a source of K-Line snap track, he has quite a lot and different
curves. Also has 5 boxes of 40" shadow rail remaining. I think each box
has 10 pieces? They are not on his web site so you would need to contact
him to buy. Eastern Depot www.easterndepot.com Bill or Esther

RMT has been bought by Aristo Craft. Going into O gauge. RMT is
marketing a Train Engineer to remote control conventional engines. About
$90 to convert an engine with a $300 base unit. A third system!!
Lionel is producing a box car series made in the USA. A new ZW with all
transformer internal ( no bricks).
Weaver will make special paint runs for as few as 100 units.
TW Trainworks out of Dallas who made the Lionel display layout sells
bridge kits with the laser cut wood for trusses and the elevated
sections.
I talked to the MTH guy about our TIU not working in some venues. He
said they know about that but offered only that we can wire in the hand
held to the base to avoid the problem????? It is a 900mHz problem. Some
commercial buildings use a high powered fire alarm system in that range
which the base can not hear the handheld over. Kind of like trying to
hear a whisper with a guy yelling in your ear, he said. Sometimes
wireless phone and other 900 users will cause a conflict. WE will need a
phone cord to connect the units when we are in halls where we have the
conflicts I guess. That would tie you down some but better than the
system not working at all. I will dig up the longest cords I have for
the next show to see how it goes.
There is more, but enough for now. Ask me at the show.
Scott
