Below are the flight schedules I am thinking about for a trip to the York
train show in April. SW is more expensive but direct flights.
American flights are pretty compatible with the SW so probably either could be
used depending on personal preference or availability of award
tickets. Times At BWI are close enough to be the same departure and
arrival times from there. There are earlier SW flights that have a
stop that would also work with an earlier American flight if the arrival
home is too late. The participants can sort this
out.
Harrisburg flights are $320 and up.
I wanted to give you an idea of the cost of the trip. American
charges for baggage now so if you need a suit case to bring home all of the
goodies, that will cost extra. No charge on SW. I plan to use a SW
award ticket.
It looks like York reasonable hotels are running about $135 plus taxes so
$150 a night. Harrisburg, 10 to 15 miles away might be $25 cheaper.
WE could look at lower class hotels if we need to save some cost. Also
could share rooms with 2 double beds to cut hotels in half for those that wanted
to.
BWI is about 1.5 hours from York, not a bad drive. Would be late upon
arrival with flights I chose but would not feel as late to us because of time
zone change.
Car rental for 4 looks like about $300 total. A mini van is $430 so
if we had 5 to 7 this would be good.
So total using SW would be $730 with shared room $1000 without.
Let me know who is still interested.
