Guys,
After a long period of soul-searching and number-crunching, Elizabeth and I have decided that we need to close The Collectible Caboose. It was a gut-wrenching decision, but it is one that we feel that we have to make. With significantly declining sales and several other economic conditions, the most optimistic model that I could develop showed us borrowing way too much money (and by the way, no one is lending) only to be back in our current situation this time next year. Therefore, we have decided to close on or before September 26, 2009. Between now and then, we will have a "Going Out Of Business" sale, so come get what you want while we have it. I have to pay off a rather large bank loan and vendors in order to close cleanly.
That said, I am hoping that somehow through this process, I will be able to keep a skeleton business open on the web and continue going to train shows. That all depends on how much train inventory I have left. It is my intention that I will be able to keep my train vendor relationships open and active enough to be able to order items for you and anyone else that wants me to. We'll just have to see
how all of that works out.
I can't begin to emphasize enough how much Elizabeth and I appreciate your friendship and patronage over these last 6½ years. Even though it will be in a different venue, I hope that we will be able to continue this in the future. I hope to see you soon.
