Re: Legacy and DCS Sessions

Hi Scott, thanks for the kind words and suggestions.  I think your advice is right on and I'll do as you suggest.

Interested Members, please stay tuned for more specifics.  I'll pick a couple of dates and do coordination documents.

And as Scott mentioned, the Collectible Caboose is also an excellent and very flexible opportunity  to test  Legacy and DCS.  And it's a great place to hang out on a hot summer day and check out all the train goodies!

And as Scott says this will be an opportunity to become more comfortable using Legacy and DCS in a low key, informal, friendly environment without all the stress of a big time train show.  Lots of help from your friends and all the manuals handy.   And if you don't yet have Legacy or DCS engines but are thinking about taking the plunge you are welcome to run mine.  I can't speak for Craig and Ricky at the Caboose, but, I'll bet they feel the same way.

Bill, what you have offered is exactly what we are looking for.  Not everyone has had the opportunity to use the legacy system yet and do not feel comfortable using it.  So training is the way to improve that.  Also, training on the DCS controls is needed so others can use it more comfortably.

Bill, I would suggest a few dates and times that work well for you and enter them into the coordination documents so you can monitor those that would be willing to attend.    That way you will know to expect participants or not.

Everyone else, Bill will send out an email with the dates he is available but each person will need to sign up on the web page so he knows what to expect.  Two dates in Aug. sounds great.

We also intend to contact Craig regarding training opportunities on his store layout, so there may be some additional opportunities to get his valuable training on how to use the control systems.  If we use Craig's layout too, he might want to invite others that come to his store so they can learn how to use the systems too since we have some experts available to be teachers.

Hi All,

I just read the Monthly Minutes and saw that the Board would like to have some Legacy CAB-2 and DCS controller instructional sessions.

I'd be more than happy to host some sessions.  I'm thinking that a  couple of sessions in August might work since the Club Schedule for August is empty and then we have two events in September.  We can run your TMCC, Legacy and MTH DCS trains or we can run mine.

I'm thinking  a couple of 3 hour sessions on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon (beat the heat!!) might work.  And weekday evening sessions will also work for me.  Longer sessions will work for me too if you're interested.  Sort of a Fun Run with the emphasis on CAB-2 and DCS.

Please let me know if you're interested and whether you'd like to do it on Saturday, Sunday or a weeknight.  Even if just a very few of you are interested we can still do it.  I'm always up for running trains.  Any excuse will do  !!! :-)
