Re: Fun Runs

Same for me. I would really like to do Bill's Fun Run but I will be out of town for Easter weekend.

Would the club members be interested in a one day Fun Run on my home layout on the Saturday April 11 date originally scheduled for the now cancelled Fun Run?  Any hours between 10 am and 5 pm work for me.

Layout is 32 ft X 17 ft in an air conditioned train room.  An around the walls shelf type layout .  Can run at least 3 good sized trains simultanelously.  Maybe more if we work together like the real railroads.

Layout is up and operating reliably and has enough structures to add interest but no scenery yet.  Can operate Legacy, TMCC1 and MTH DCS simultaneously.  Really can't do conventional transformer control as one loco ties up most of the layout the way it's wired.  But, those of you with conventional loco's are welcome to come and run my Legacy, TMCC or DCS loco's.

The layout will accommodate our largest locos and rolling stock.  Atlas O track and switches.  Minimum radius is 090.  The dozen or so switches are manual at this time (awaiting wiring) which adds operating interest.

Trainroom can accommodate 10 to 12 persons comfortably - about the usual turnout.  Room includes a hi-def tv and good stereo system for watching train videos or sports.  Plenty of parking on-premises for the same number of vehicles.  We have about 2 acres and lots of blacktop driveway.

We're located 4 miles west of Loop 360 out Bee Caves Road in and area called Lake Hills.

Let me know if you're interested.

Bill

I was going to suggest this yesterday.  If you know someone with empty office or retail space that might be willing to let us set up let us know.

Even schools with fairs that we could set up in a Gym might be an option for a fun run if it lines up with our schedule.

The corollary to Ira's note about the April show in San Antonio and the
loss of the Branch Creek Club house is that we all need to think about
venues that we can use for club activities when we do not have a show.

Work days work well in Driveways.

But runs are better in a secure air conditioned space.

I have an empty 3 car garage  but the week ends are when the most
activity occurs from trying to sell it .

Keep your eyes open for a suitable space.
