Re: Fwd: WGH Train Show

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement.  I understand and totally agree about testing and debugging after a 40 year career in Information Technology.  If anything can go wrong it will.  I think Murphy said that or something similar.

Testing will proceed in two stages.  First, we're testing each module separately and then all four together here at my home.  Second,  we plan on testing with the club's modules and key components on Saturday, Feb 14 either at the Railyard or at Scott's home.

As of now, all four modules are in various stages of completion at this point.  One is complete and has been tested at my home.

As you know I have an operating layout with MTH DCS and Lionel Legacy and TMCC.  I have tested this first module by first ohming every connection, looking for shorts and opens and then by connecting it to my Command and Control electronics.  Lionel TMCC and Legacy and MTH DCS locomotives operate successfully on all five tracks. I have tested the connections in every permutation and combination I can think of.  For example.  Power applied thru the Jones Plugs with the "Trailer" connectors looped together and power applied via the trailer connectors directly. Etc., so on and so forth.

Hope this helps.  Looking forward to seeing the turntable/transfer table modules.

By the way, I talked with Steve Brennheisen the owner of Ross Custom Switches this week.  He is coming the San Antonio show.  I'm thinking of trying to talk him down on two 33 inch fully automated turntables!. Just need to rob a 7/11 to pay for them!

Rgds, Bill

Hey Bill,

This all sounds great!  45 degree corners will add more variations to our layout setups!

How are you gonna test these before the WGH show?  We don't want to be debugging these at the show for sure...

CU soon

Hi all,
Sounds like we're going to have a great layout for the World's Greatest Hobby Show.  The roundhouse and transfer table modules are as good as it gets!  And Adrian's email and attachments clearly indicate that this will be the biggest train show to hit Central Texas in years!!
To add to the fun, Rick, Ricky and I want you'all  to know that we're working hard to complete four brand new wide radius corner modules in time for testing and use in the show.    We've been working nights and weekends all through January so we'll have them tested and ready in time. And with a big up coming weekend of work it looks like we'll make it.
We think they're really cool.   45 degree corners.  It takes two to make the 90 degrees of one of our current corners.
At 45 degrees they offer more flexibility for layout geometry than is currently possible.  We can go beyond a rectangular or L shaped layout.  Think about it.
Tracks 1, 2 and 3 are 120 diameter and tracks 4 and 5 are 096 !!   Brand new K-Line Shadow Rail.  All new construction.
So, the big bonus is all of the members' locomotives and rolling stock, whether 027 or O Scale, will look more realistic on these broader curves  -- and the larger O Scale locomotives and scale length 21 inch passenger cars that many of us now run will not only look better, but will also operate much better on these curves.  More fun for us and a better show for the general public.
Stay tuned.  Hope to see you at setup, both days of the show, and teardown!  Bill       On Thu, Feb 5, 2009 at 11:53 AM, Steve Wise <swise@aoot.com <mailto:swise@aoot.com>> wrote:
