Re: Layout Update

One observation to consider.  Maybe it has already been done but the inside curves on the new ;larger corners are still less than 72" diameter.  Track in the D position is 72" and in E is 8.5" smaller.  If the large engines need 72" actually, then this would be a problem.    Actually, I am thinking that the track used is 72-54-54 72 since there is not 64" track available.  The only concentric circles are A and D, the rest are mixtures of standard radii.

All,

On Saturday, Ricky, Ira and I talked about ways to move track one on the reverse curve of the "L" to the outer (the sharpest) track instead of the second track right next to track 2 so we can run articulateds without worrying about hitting whatever was on track two.  What we theorized is that if we used the other two crossovers backwards so that track one had the jog and not track 4 and using the reversing wires already on the layout moved to the far sides of the crossover, this would work.  Graphically, this is what we wanted to try:
Just to think about.

As for extension of the layout, Gop for it but keep the track operational quickly after the conversion.  I will need to look for the extra wire sets and see which module base should be used.  I have the track and I think already cut to 38" and know where that is.  I did some reorganization this week end and may know where the wires are but no guarantees at this point.  Still we require looking through seveal to lots of boxes.

Ricky and I tried this in application today (with help from John Eagle) and everything worked as we had planned.  So, now if you have an articulated, it can be run on track one with no worries about hitting whatever is on track two.
