Fellow NMRA members:

 

Please, if you are able, help spread the word (through word or print) about this stolen "Big Boy" locomotive (see below).  It's probable minimum radius means there are not likely  to be many places it could be run, even on an outdoor layout.  And, there's probably a limited market for even legitimate sales, let alone as a "used" locomotive or on eBay. . . it's too easy to identify as stolen property (it's a limited edition). 

 

This notice will also appear in the NMRA Lone Star Region "Marker Lamp" newsletter.

 

Thanks for your help.  Something like this impacts ALL of us, regardless of our gauge, scale, location, or organizational affiliation.

STOLEN:  A USA-Trains 1:29-scale (G-Gauge) Union Pacific Big Boy4-8-8-4 die-cast steam locomotive model, Limited Edition, retail value $4000.  The model was stolen from Lone Star Trains & Collectibles in San Antonio, Texas the morning of Wednesday, October 22, 2008.  Thieves backed a maroon pickup truck to the glass front door, shattered the glass, snatched the locomotive and tender from the counter display, and made off.  Locomotive and tender together are 57 long (almost 5-feet), and weigh about 75 pounds.  Please contact Clay Kinsner at Lone Star Trains, telephone:  210-655-4665 (e-mail:  clayk@lonestartrains.com)  if you have information leading to the recovery of the model and/or apprehension of the thieves.
