Scott, you can put me down for a day of manning the layout, probably more. I will need to see how my schedule turns out as the event gets closer.

For a few years I have put a simple loop layout in the lobby at my office. Not wanting to wear out the trains by running them all day long I set them up to only run when people were present in the lobby. This was achieved easily and cheaply. Lowe's sells a kit that contains a battery operated motion detector that triggers a relay that you plug into the wall. When the motion detector is triggered, the relay powers a built-in outlet and continues to do so as long as there is motion. When the motion stops it continues for five minutes before it turns off. I just plug the train transformer into the outlet and set the transformer for the desired speed and lock the E-unit into foreward. We could probably use this for unmanned operations.

The owners of schlitterbahn in New Braunfels has contacted us to see if we would be interested in setting up our layout on their property for the Christmas season. They are planning to have the park open every weekend between Thanksgiving and Though new years including the whole week of Christmas and new Years except for Christmas day. They will activities across the park and want to have some model trains. WE would be expected to man the layout as much as possible but let them run the layout if we were not present. Hours are 5 to 9 or 10 PM. In order to reply to them, I need to hear back from members if they would be willing to man the layout at least one day during this period and preferably more. The members at the meeting indicate support for the activity. There are many details to work out yet, our participation, running the layout by others, security, damages, compensation. We need a basic level of willingness to participate in order to continue discussions.
