Michael. suggest you call Pat Neil the owner of Collectible Trains and Toys in Dallas The Premier long time train store in North Dallas. Just google it and his website will come up. He is a long time collector of older trains and is a big part of the Regional and National TCA. And he's very helpful and friendly and very knowledgeable on how to go about cleaning and/or restoring and repairing old trains. Since you seem to like the post war era Lionel trains, he's a good guy to know for that too. He is always buying and selling trains and periodically buys huge collections and then sells them piece by piece. And I'm pretty sure he's still an Authorized Lionel Service Station. I think. Good luck. Bill Lohman

Hey guys,
I picked up an NYC 2344 F3 ABA set this afternoon. Complete, but the shells are pretty dirty. Any thoughts on the best way to restore the paint without painting? I'm trying mild detergent with a rag, but not having too much success.
Thanks,
Mike
