I would disagree with extreme.  I believe they are 72" but back to back.

The inside of the L uses tracks  2, 3, 4, 5.  Trk 2 is 72"  and Trk 5 is 96".  The only thing you have to worry about is approaching another train on Trk 3 with an articulated engine such as a Big Boy!  Trk 3 has extreme S curves on approaches to Ed's bridge module.
