Good Morning Gents and Ladies,
Now that I got that jargon out of the way, I just wanted to say hi from
England. My trip is going fine, and I'm enjoying my commute on the
Southern Railway each day.
All the trains going out of London are more like the metro commuter
trains that run in DC, except these don't go underground. There are a
couple of things I noticed on them that I thought was interesting. The
first is that most of the cars have a first class section. The second
is that on the wheels, both sided are flanged, similar to what our
engines look like if they throw a traction tire. I was curious on how
they go through switches, and I go through the yard at Horsham (see the
first pic) every day, so I looked at the switches and they all have an
indentation where the wheel crosses over - pretty neat.
Another thing I did while here was go to a small museum here in Horsham
and in their toys through the ages room, they had an old, 3 rail HO set.
I've included several pictures of this as well.
I hope everyone is doing well and that you all have fun in San Antonio
this weekend.
Cheers. = )
Allan
