That solution has been used previously with success.  It is interesting
to note however, that in the case of the trolley car set up that I do not
remember a time that it has gotten set up without Ira. 

The siding is an asset to the layout.  It is more delicate than the
standard modules but we seem to be doing well with the switch modules
which are equally as delicate.

I still need to cut a track to match yours so mine can connect to yours.

One complication that I have noted in working with my siding is that I
have the operating accessories on the siding which means that I often
have cars on the line and  can no longer pull through it, limiting some
options for use.  Your suggestion to put spurs off of the line allows
through traffic to get to any of the spurs.  Putting multiple spurs on
track 4 would also accommodate the same thing.  I like the idea of the
spurs/switches on track 4.  The board could authorize this addition an
club modules or members with modules could request the addition of the
switches.  If switches were added as bridge track, it would be the Fat
controller of set up who says where and how many could be installed.

I may change my stuff around some to be more spurs than continuous
siding.
