Subject: TMCCII / Legacy news
Halo members!
I just read and article on Lionel's new TMCC-II / Legacy system in the
latest O Gauge Railroading rag. Two points caught my eye:
1) You can use standard AA Alkaline batteries instead of the rechargable
ones. This makes it much easier for our club
to utilize the system size
we wouldn't have to charge it up before a run. We can just plug in
fresh batteries as we do now with the TMCC-I and DCS systems.
2) It uses the TMCC-I protocols and can thus control all older TMCC-I
engines. They munged the TMCC-I protocol and system to allow much
greater expansion and thus didn't need to invent a new protocol for
communicating with the engines/devices. So we can indeed use this to
control all Lionel TMCC engines. (that's the claim anyway :).
So this might indeed be something we want to migrate to at some point.
I've purchased the system along with the new Big Boy that runs TMCC-II.
Once it arrives, I'd like hook it up to our layout and try it all out.
Maybe one evening or a sunday when the club isn't scheduled to run. I'll
take off the TMCC-I system and hook up mine and run TMCC-I and TMCC-II
trains on it. I can then
provide feedback to the club on the system.
Anyone interested can certainly attend and try out the Cab-2.
TTAT Board: Does that sound good?
