TTAT Board Update

All,

I don't know if the meeting minutes we post on the club website at http://www.trainweb.org/ttat/ actually get read or not but there are several items that the general membership should be aware of:

1. Fun Run - This weekend!  You should see the announcements coming from Steve who is the coordinator for this event.

2. Trailer - The club recently purchased a brand new 7' by 14' aluminum cargo trailer to replace the old trailer.  We paid mostly cash, but we do have an outstanding loan to Ira Schneider for the balance.  We hope to have this trailer on display at the fun run this weekend.  We will schedule a work day to build the shelving required for our layout.

3. Club Bylaws and Standard Operating procedures - Ira has lead the effort to get these revised and the board has put a lot of work into updating them to our current needs.  We will send a link to the new Bylaws shortly and the membership is required to vote for acceptance of the modified bylaws to make them effective.

4. Annual General Meeting - This is scheduled for early September.  Time and place TBD, but we are leaning towards a weekday night around 7:00 PM somewhere in North-Central Austin.  If you have a suggestion for a location where 15-20 of us can meet that is convenient for travel please send me a personal e-mail.  We need a good turnout to vote on the Bylaw changes and for new Director positions.

5. Director Positions - We have 5 Directors on the Board.  They have staggered 3-year terms so there is always 1 or 2 openings each year.  Directors serve a year as non-voting advisor for a year after their term expires.  They cannot be re-elected to the board until at least one-year after their term expires.  This means we will have openings for new directors at this year's AGM and we are looking for nominees/volunteers.  Think about participating.  The time commitment is usually 2-3 hours a month.

6. Holiday Layout setup - We would like to have a location to setup for the  months of December and January to run trains.  If you know of a place where we can leave the layout up for several weeks or more please let us know!

Thanks,
Ed Weltens
President - TTAT Board of Directors
