Re: New Corners
I agree with Scott. The woodwork for the new corners needs to be modified to be the same
size as the previous "new" corners. We either have to scrap what we have and start again,
using the dimensions of the original "new" corners or we have to add 2-1/2" to each size to
make them fit properly.
One of my concerns, which Scott mentioned, is that if we have a THIRD size corner module
we will still have problems setting up the layout. The "matched" pairs of corners need to
be diagonally opposite each other. Right now, that is easy since it is very simple to
distinguish between the old and new corners (i.e. the new corners are club green and have
shadow rail, the old corners are a different color and have Lionel track). If we don't fix the
size of the new corners, we will have four corners which look similar (i.e. club green with
shadow rail) and it will be harder to determine which are the matched pairs.
My recommendation is that we extend the new corners by 2-1/2" on each end by
cutting the plywood over the braces, removing the side sections (plywood and facia
boards), and replace the facia boards and plywood on the ends. This will give us
corners which look slightly different (i.e. the inside will no longer be a straight edge)
but the dimensions of the plywood holding the tracks would be the same.
