Chzilispiel

The Czilispiel in Flatonia is only 5 weeks away. We need to know how many people THINK they can
participate in this event so the board of directors can decide whether or not to continue planning for
this event.

Please indicate your level of participation on the event coordination document on the club web site.
We are currently planning on towing the trailer to Flatonia on Thursday evening so we can set up
on Friday evening. We need to know how many people think they can be there for set up on Friday
(and what time you can be there) and how many people expect to be there on Saturday and Sunday.

This is a fun event. It is not a train show. It is the annual chili festival in Flatonia. There are carnival rides,
food booths, crafts booths, dancing, the chili cookoff, the Union Pacific Railroad right behind the civic center,
a restored railroad switch tower, and a railroad observation area.
There is also a cute "small-town" parade on Sunday at noon. The people that attend this event
are not the regular "train show" crowd. Most of the people that come into the model railroad display
are genuinely interested in seeing the layouts. We generally share the building with a few other clubs.

For those of you who haven't been there, Flatonia is only about 85 miles from Austin, or just slightly
further than Live Oak (San Antonio). In the past, it has only taken me about 15 or 20 minutes more
to drive to Flatonia than Live Oak, so it is really not much farther than a San Antonio show.

Please tell us as soon as possible what you think your level of participation for this event will be,
including "not participating".

The event organizers need to have a list of participants by September 30 so they can make up
passes for us to get into the fenced area (for free). I will make up the list based on the names on
the event coordination document on that day, so if you are not listed you won't get a free pass.

Thanks.
