Re: Elgin Depot Fun Run

Good question.

I'm gonna be out of town, so I cannot attend.  :-(

But Ira will have the new siding transition modules ready to test, I think, so I encourage folks to make this happen so we can test our new RCS switches!

Who can commit to a Friday 5/14 setup, and a Saturday 5/15 fun run/tear down?

Stevo.

What do we want to do with the planned club run.  I think that the BCE clubhouse was reserved for us.  May 14,15.

I spoke with Francis Smith and Ann Heleson at the Elgin Depot Museum.  They are very nice people and would love for us to set up in their depot for a weekend.  They recently had an exhibit of Side Track Tommy's train artifacts including a Wig-Wag.

Elgin has a Western Days event annually which I imagine is like Czhilispiel.  This year it falls on June 20-27.  They would like us to come June 26 and 27, which happens to be the date that was freed up by the Burnet Rail Fair cancellation.

The Room is an old waiting room in the 103 year old depot.  20' by 30' so it would be a medium size layout against the wall.  They have updated electricity and Air Conditioning the whole depot was recently renovated.

They promise publicity in the local paper as an event coinciding with the Western Days.  If it goes well they may want to set up an annual event.

We could set up Friday nite and run all day Saturday and Sunday.

They are going to look into the prospect of compensation for the clubs towing expenses.

I am going up there this weekend to check it out, probably Saturday.  Depot hours are 2-5 Tuesday through Sunday.

Let me know if you like the idea and the date.  I am pretty excited about this opportunity.
