Scott,

I have ordered 4 K-line 40" straights which should be here this week.  I noticed that three of the tracks on the module are made up of old 10" Lionel straights and I plan to discard them, but the other is a rather new K-line which I will save for anyone who needs it (Hugh uses O27 track).

I cannot say for sure when I will finish the module.  Will you need it for Flatonia?

Regarding the updating of the module:

If you can find Kline 40" track, it works better than Lionel because it
has uniform tie spacing in lieu of the 10" straight pattern on a Lionel. 
When you cut 2" off to be the needed 38", this is important.  Let me know
if you can not find these, and maybe the club will order another box of
track.

Remember that the track is to be 5" from the end of the wood on each end
so measure the deck and frame before you cut the track.  i have found
that a first cut close and then the final cut with a dremel cut off wheel
works well if you have that.

Black is ground, the outside rails.  Wires are soldered onto the rails. 
I think the web site has some of the wiring conventions by color.  We
will need to check it out for continuity and shorts when you are done.

Be careful with the long straights, some seem to have a bow in them and
should be straightened before you put them down.  Measure spacing at both
ends

You can remove the sliding door system, as much as possible, to reduce
weight if you can add the plastic boxes.  Michaels had he best and
cheapest.  Just cut a whole in one end for the wires to go in.
