Centramod. I think the most interesting thing is that all the scales work
together. Maybe if we did that in Austin we could get a permanent location
for a layout.

Centra-MOD has been around at least 20 years. I joined
during 2002. Its the nearest club to me in Whitney; alas, it is still
over an hour away from me. It has members, like me, scattered all
over central Texas. For 2002 Christmas party we went up to Grapevine
to ride the Tarantula Train to Ft.Worth. About
60 folks drove all the way up the from central Texas.
Centra-MOD tries to pull in the entire family of each
member. I'm always amazed at the way members from the various
scales pitch-in to help the folks in the other scales with projects. It
provides a much healthier social environment than you might
expect.
Somehow, The City of Temple, Texas came into ownership of
the Moody, Texas Santa Fe Depot, which has been restored and relocated to
downtown Temple next to the Amtrak (old Temple, Texas Santa
Fe) Station. Centra-MOD has a five year lease on Moody
Depot for a nominal amount. Centra-MOD puts on the Annual Temple Fall
Trainshow which is typically the third weekend in Sept each year.
Centra-MOD has pretty well filled the inside
of Moody Depot with modular layouts of various scales.
There is a huge new state-of-the-art HO modular layout nearing completion
and in the testing trains stage. Next in size is a 3-rail O gauge
layout. And then a medium sized N layout. There five or
six layouts in operation and a couple on the
shelves. Centra-MOD has a travelling 3-rail O guage layout that
lives in a trailer.
Run days at Moody Depot are 3rd Saturdays,
1:00 to 5:00.
There are still no viable train hobby shops in Waco
or Temple. James Smola of South Loop Pawn and Hobby Shop in
Stephenville (76401) is an 'official' Lionel and an
'official' AtlasO Dealer. He's a absolute wizard at
repairing his customers R/C airplanes; and he loves the challenge of fixing
busted planes and upgrading trains, I

Saw your posts on OGRR forums and was curious
about the Centra-MOD runs. I am in the Tinplate Trackers group in
Austin, but am still interested in the Temple scene. What are your runs
like?
The guys in our club sure miss going to the
Temple train shows. I might have to go up sometime on my
own.
