Flatonia
Nobody has mentioned what modules they are bringing to Flatonia next weekend, so I designed
a layout (actually, 2 layouts) based on past history. The layout diagrams are attached. Please
send me comments.
Scott: Will you please bring your three accessory modules and your city scene module?
Adrian: Will you please bring your two oil field modules and your city scene module?
I tried to alleviate the problem we had of the severe reverse curve by inserting straight modules
(where possible) between the curves. In Layout 2, the reverse curve is separated from both of the
curves by straight modules. In Layout 1, the reverse curve is only separated from one of the curves
by a straight module. (The reason is that I couldn't find any way of having Scott's accessory
modules adjacent to each other if I inserted another straight between the curves.)
If they give us more space and we can build a 5 x 5 layout instead, we can adjust the layouts
to fit, including inserting an extra straight module next to the reverse curve.
You may notice that I didn't show the trolley modules on these layouts. I think I finally got the passing
section to work properly (I modified the electronics at the AMRE show). However, one of my trolley
cars is temporarily dead (the brushes disintegrated at the show) and the other trolley car also needs
new brushes (even though it still runs). Since I haven't been able to get new brushes yet, I just thought
I would leave them home and not set up the trolley line this time.
I made an adapter which will allow us to connect the MTH TIU and the IC TPCs to the Lionel Command
Base simultaneously. This will let use use the MTH handheld remote controller for TMCC engines
running on track 2 (we can still use a CAB-1 if desired). It SHOULD also let the MTH TIU send a
Halt command to all TMCC engines if the e-stop button is pressed on the MTH controller. Unfortunately,
the TIU can't receive any indication of an operator pressing the Halt button on the CAB-1.
If any one has any suggestions about the layout (or anything else about running at Flatonia), please
send me an e-mail.
Ira
