I've heard there are some minor limitations to running the TMCC engines in
command mode via the DCS->TMCC cable. Plus they recommend modifying the
cable, adding an in-line resistor or something, to get rid of some
interference that people have experienced.

We can still use the cab-1 and run TMCC engines in command mode even on the
tracks that we control with the DCS TIU. Classic Toy Trains reviewers opted
for this method (sept. 2002 issue) since there were problems using the DCS
remote and the DCS->TMCC cable to control TMCC engines. Run the DCS command
trains with the DCS remote, and run the TMCC command trains with the cab-1.
This works well for us too since we have 4 cab-1 remotes.

However, we will be restricted to run conventional trains on the
TIU-controlled track(s) using only the DCS remotes. So if we only buy one
DCS remote, then we probably should only control one track with it.
