Re: raffle

Scott is correct about Burnet being the only show where we do not get cash
compensation and that no show is offering more than $100.00. GATS only
guarantees $50.00. Last year we didn't get paid at Flatonia but this year
they are donating $100 to the club to help cover our expenses. The cost to
put on a show keeps going up but the number of vendors and the number of
visitors keep going down.

One reason I think we should continue to go to Burnet is that many of the
visitors are from the Austin area and its a good chance to recruit new
members and make contact with other organizations. Besides clearing $155
and running some trains, we did get one new member this week-end (even
though he's not from the Austin area) and we did make contact with another
train organization from Austin. I'll send out more on these in the near
future.

I thought the Burnet show went very well. We had a great location and we
also had air-conditioning. Set-up went well Friday night and as far as I
know, we only had some minor layout problems early Saturday morning. I
wasn't at the show on Sunday, but I haven't heard of any major problems.

Thanks to everyone who participated this week-end.

Remember---our next event is the annual meeting at Luby's on September 12 at
6:00pm.
