Annual MTG & Elections

At the last director's meeting we decided to hold the Annual Club Meeting on
September 12, 2002 at the Luby's cafeteria on MoPac and Steck Avenue. We'll
start gathering at 6:00pm. An agenda will be sent to you prior to the
meeting but one of the items will be the election of new board members.

For the past several years we have had volunteers serving as board members
instead of holding elections. Since our membership has grown over the past
couple of years, the board has decided to try and hold an election this
year.

At the last board meeting we reviewed the make-up of the current board and
the amount of time each member has served on the board. We discovered that
Ron had served for 3 years, Jim and Scott for 2 years, and Ira and Buddy for
1 year. It wasn't by design but this is the exact make-up of the board as
described in the clubs by-laws. The by-laws also say that a board member
cannot server for more than 3 consectutive years. In order to maintain an
experienced Board of Directors we also decided that Jim, Scott, Ira, and
Buddy should finish up their 3 year terms on the board. After the meeting
Buddy indicated that if an active member was willing to take his place on
the board he would vacate his position.

What does all this mean?

The answers:
1. Check your calendar to see if you can make the meeting.
2. We have 2 vacancies on the board, Ron and Buddy.

In order to make sure every member has the opportunity to participate I will
be taking nominations/volunteers for the 2 new board member positions
between now and August 31. I will then mail out ballots to all members. The
ballots can be either sent back to me in the mail or brought to the meeting.
We'll count the ballots and announce the winners at the meeting. With
this method you do not have to be at the meeting to be a candidate for the
board or to vote for the board members.

Let me know if you want to nominate anyone/want to volunteer for the board
or have any questions.

Thanks--Ron
