Re: plexiglass on the corners
I believe clamping the Plexiglas would cause interference with the shirt.
Ron, I believe, made a simple modification to a module as a test. He added a
strip of molding, which the Velcro attaches to, and the Plexiglas just 'sits'
in a groove. Don't know the correct terms. Someone else can better describe
it.
Sky boards on the yard...They will make taking trains on and off more of a
reach on tracks one and two than it is now. I damaged Adrian's switch tower
that was sitting on one end of the yard while changing out an engine on track
one. I'd vote no.
I'm sure you guys think I'm nuts but as we consider changes, we should
consider changes that make our lives easier in addition to layout appearance.
If we are going to start messing with legs, why don't we consider having
folding legs like many of Santrack's (SP) modules as well as other clubs.
The weight issue it isn't valid. Our modules vary significantly weight wise
and the weight doesn't necessarily correlate to module size.
Back to the skyboards, with a lack of layout visibility any operator should
be constantly watching his train. I suggest that doesn't happen and won't
happen. Consider repairing trains, loading and unloading trains, eating
lunch, visiting with viewers, helping other members with operating or repair
problems, etc.
Having a train stalled on the far side of the layout doesn't add to viewer
excitement either. Put a K-mart type convex (concave?) mirror on a couple of
corners may help.
OK I've beat this to death.
