New Corners

Hey, Everyone!

I still plan on having the corner construction party at my house on the 23rd.  I will probably start early and may even have some of the wood pre-cut, but I wouldn't expect anyone else until about 10:00 AM.    We can order pizza or we can delegate someone cook and make hamburgers on the grill.  I'll send out directions next week.

GOAL: Build 2 new corners with 5 tracks each and wider radius curves.

I will supply the lumber but will need some additional materials.  We will use 5/16" plywood.

-Track.  It arrived yesterday and was $30 less expensive than I had estimated because I found a cheaper supplier (www.daviselectronics.com).
- I think I have enough leg hardware (T-nuts, leg bolts, etc) but could use some leg pockets if someone has them built already.  I can make new ones out of the excess material from the 1x3"s
- Wood screws, track screws - I have these.  If anyone has access to Atlas O track screws we could probably use extra.
- Wire. There has been plenty of discussion on this topic and I don't know if it has been resolved.  I know Jim has wire he can sell the club, but I don't know if it is the gauge that has been suggested or if it is all the same gauge.  We need to get this resolved. I don't have any wire.
- Wire shrink wrap.  Need some.
- Jones Plugs.  I have some and will try to get the rest out of the trailer if I don't have enough (4 of each). Anyone that is closer to the trailer than me is welcome to volunteer to get them.
- Main power hook-up.  I have one, do we want two?
- Carpet.  I don't have any and I don't know if we are going to add this.  My intention was to ballast the track with rubber ballast and add sound deadening foam to the bottom of the module.  I can include the carpet if that is the desire of the club, but would try and hide it under ballast to the extent I could make them stick together. As an alternative, I could use some foam tape as additional sound deadener.
- Terminal Strips.  I have a thought (may not be a good one) that we might use terminal strips to connect the track power wires to the trailer harness wires instead of solder and tape.  Any thoughts/preferences on this?

I don't think anyone needs to bring any tools unless you want to bring an extra soldering gun.  I should have everything we need to complete this at my home.

This attachment has the dimensions of the new corners.
