World's Greatest Hobby

At the Luby's meeting last week, Bob gave me a letter he received from
Kalmbach Publishing that contained some information about how they want
to promote model trains with their World's Greatest Hobby campaign. 
If you haven't seen it in the Classic Toy Trains magazine, they plan to
connect new model train hobbyists with train clubs and hobby shops who
are willing to conduct workshops for beginners.  Even if clubs do
not want to participate in the campaign, Kalmbach will include the club
in Model Railroader's next club directory.

Since some of our members have already done presentations to a couple of
scout troops using the 4x8 layout, I thought this might be something we
would want to pursue.  It sounds like this may give us some good pr
and may also put us in contact with some potential new members. 
Getting listed in some of Kalmbach's publications probably won't hurt
either.

The have set up a web site,
www.greatesthobby.com
that is still being developed but has some additional information about their efforts.  It also has a place where you can register for a starter set.  

When you get a chance, take a look at the web site and let me know what you think about participating in their campaign.  If  it sounds good to most of the members, I'll go ahead and sign us up either as a participant or as a entry in their club directory.
