All aboard for Spring Break fun! The Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum will be hosting a special model train display,
Tuesday, March 11 through Friday, March 14. The Central Texas Area Model Railroaders (CentraMod) will have multiple train layouts running in the Grand Lobby of the Santa Fe Depot. Members of the CentraMod club will be on hand to run the trains and talk about their love for these miniature trains and the complex scenery they build for them.
Over the years, CentraMod members have participated in every major train show in all of the major cities. Club members spend many years working on models and hundreds of hours fine-tuning the scenery and train operations. Some of their models have won Best of Show and received Honorable Mentions at National Model Railroad Association events.
“Model train layouts are a fun way to bring a bygone era to life,” said Stephanie Long, Director of the Railroad and Heritage Museum. “We are excited to partner with CentraMod to share the creativity and dedication of their members with our visitors.”
Visitors can enjoy the trains during the regular museum hours, 10am-4pm. There is no fee to view the model trains. Regular admission charges apply to view the rest of the museum.
The museum is located in the Santa Fe Depot at 315 West Avenue B in downtown Temple. The museum is open 10am – 4pm, Tuesday – Saturday. For more information about this event or the museum, please call 254.298.5172 or visit
